About the thesis
The research looks at advanced techniques for improving wireless communication, especially for future 6G networks that aim to serve many users and devices with fast, reliable, and energy-efficient connections. It focuses on RSMA and RIS. RSMA stands for rate-splitting multiple access; RIS refers to reconfigurable intelligent surfaces. Under RSMA, messages for multiple users can be divided and sent flexibly over shared radio resources.
The work covers links in both directions between a base station and users. It considers imperfect knowledge of the wireless channel, interference that cannot be fully removed, and hardware with non-ideal characteristics. It also examines short-packet transmission, which is relevant to applications needing fast and dependable communication, and systems that send information while also enabling energy harvesting.
